Only if they've been subjected to American culture long enough to know how the state of hockey is in the US

I'd say it pretty good though.. I'm as close as a United American of the USA can be.. I've been to the US more than once this year alone and I know people who have been.. if i vote, i'd vote yeah because I see how they enjoy their hockey atm

statistics anyone?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?year=2008

by the looks of it the New York Islanders dont want a hockey team.. other than that most of it is impressive.. like i said, most.. it could be better though

In the United States today, a reasonable estimate of the popularity order might be:

    * NFL (National Football League)

    * NBA (National Basketball Association)

    * MLB (Major League Baseball)

    * NCAA football (college football)

    * NCAA basketball (college basketball)

    * NASCAR (stock car racing)

    * WWE (professional wrestling)

    * NHL (National Hockey League)

    * AFL (Arena Football League)

    * WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association)

    * MLS (Major League Soccer)

    * IRL (Indy Racing League)

Wait in line with all the other unpopular sports.

being ahead of MLS is a step.. lol

here's the problem with hockey in the US..

if you look @ the stats i showed you, backtrack to 2001

Pittsburg is in last place and St louis is in the top 10

now in 2008 Pittsburg is in top 10 while st louis is in bottom 10

why? because unlike any other sports the US only appreciates and follow their hockey team as a luxiary

and, DG.. as an American you must know who Sidney Crosby is right?

That's just silly. You assume I know who or what that Hockey player did, other than play Hockey. No I don't. Not everyone follows or cares about Hockey punxx. For the 10th time...

Sorry i thought you did. He was only on ESPN's top 10 (out of 50) athletes of the year 2007. and you gotta admit.. if ESPN ranks a white coloured Canadian HOCEY player on their top 10.. that means something?

Hockey is just a luxury in the USA and you should know this by now. If a team does great, fans will pack up the arena and the city will become a hockey town; ie: Pittsburg. Although if the team is having bad streaks no one will care about them and forget they even have a hockey team; ie: St Louis. Although if the Cleveland Browns miss the playoffs 4 years in a row luckily the NFL culture will support it.

Hockey has the power to lift a city, yet keep it still, like a said; Hockey is a luxury for you guys below the border, I wouldn't say Americans don't give a ***** about hockey, that is going to far. Americans give a ***** about hockey when their team is doing great. So if you're a hockey promoter in the town of Glendale AZ, pray to whatever God it is you follow that the Coyotes finally make the playoffs for once.
